Kat Garcia ('21)

Events Director

Kat is a proud SJSU alumna, born and raised in the Bay Area. She graduated from SJSU with a B.A. in Child & Adolescent Development with a focus in Community and a Recreational Management minor (Spring 2021). During her undergrad, she was actively involved in Akbayan, serving as the Community & Political Affairs Chair for the 41st Cabinet and Internship Coordinator for the 43rd Cabinet.

Kat's passion for her community began prior to college, where she dedicated her time to volunteering at different schools and organizations, as well as mentoring members of her youth group. Her love for educating and curating events for her community has led her to work at Project Pearls, SJSU iSchool, City of San Jose, Alumn Rock’s Counseling Center, and other events and educational organizations.

Currently, Kat works with Maritz Global Events at Google as an Event Manager and Venue Specialist. Through her experiences, she hopes to one day create her own cultural nonprofit organization. Her vision is to provide a platform where children can learn and connect to their native cultures through the arts. We can't wait to see all the amazing events Kat will help bring to our alumni network!
